Things to know about your Name Stamp before stamping
- Our Name Stamp is semi-permanent!
Please read the below information before stamping.
- Always stamp on a hard surface and make sure your surface is covered to avoid accidental ink transfer.
- We recommend testing the stamp on paper and then on the inside of a cuff or hem before stamping it in a more visible area.
- If stamping very thin fabrics, we recommend stamping the hemline of that item to avoid ink transferring through the fabric to the other side of the garment.
- We recommend waiting at least 24 hours before washing or wearing to allow the stamp ink to set properly.
- Some items that are worn & washed daily could see the name stamp print fading over time (even eventually washing out) but this would require many washes.
- The ink is black, so you will not be able to see it on items that are too dark
- The stamp is intended for use on fabric items. While the stamp may transfer to other material types, we recommend reading our FAQ section titled ‘What Can I Stamp’ for more details
Is the stamp easy to use?
Yes, it’s simple and convenient! Just press the stamp onto the stamp pad and then apply the stamp print on your chosen item.
Don’t forget, if it is the first time you’ve used the name stamp on your garment, please test it on a piece of paper, then on a discreet area of your garment first & don’t press too hard. You might like to experiment with your pressure.
How do I use my Name Stamp?
- Press your stamp evenly onto the ink pad, without applying excessive pressure.
- Test your stamp in a less visible placement first to ensure the correct amount of pressure and ink is used. You may even like to test it on paper first.
- Place the clothing item on a hard surface. When pressing your stamp onto the clothing item please apply even pressure, do not rock the stamp from side to side.
- Your Name Stamp ink will be damp after applying, please avoid contact with other fabric items to avoid the stamp transferring. We recommend allowing the stamp to dry overnight before washing or wearing.
- To avoid ink build up on your stamp, please clean with a damp cloth or designated toothbrush after use. You can also put your name stamp in the dishwasher!
What materials can I stamp on?
We’ve tested our name stamp on many surfaces. Most cotton and elastane material types have worked very well with our Name Stamp.
Some materials like ‘wool’ work well when the weave of the material is very tight & smooth.
Any items with surfaces that are highly textured (not smooth), shiny, glossy, thin or plastic are best tested prior to stamping in a visible space.
Does the name stamp work on dark-coloured clothing?
The black ink is most visible on lighter fabrics. For very dark clothing, you may need to use an iron-on label or a wrap & stick label instead. You may also be able to stamp your ‘care tags’ but please be careful that the ink on tag dries for 24 hours before washing & wearing
Can I stamp the care tags on my clothing?
In most cases, yes, you can stamp your care tags. Here are some things to consider before you proceed.
- If your care tag is made from woven materials, it is likely your stamp will work. Please be careful that the ink on the tag dries to avoid any chance of transfer to other parts of your garment.
If it does not dry, please see instructions in the FAQ titled ‘What do I do if the ink does not dry?’
- If your care tag feels like plastic, we cannot guarantee that the ink will transfer or dry.

Can I use the stamp on items other than clothing?
Yes, you can stamp on paper, cardboard, and most smooth, absorbent materials like paper books or polyester backpacks.
However, the stamp is designed primarily for fabric use and you should test in hidden or discreet areas prior to stamping on visible areas.
Please make sure that the ink has dried before it touches other items that you may not want the ink transferred to. If the ink does not dry please refer to the question below.
What do I do if the ink does not dry?
If the ink does not dry, to avoid any chance of transfer to other parts of your garment, please follow the below instructions:
- Carefully pat the inked area with a paper towel to remove wet ink
- Then, wipe clean with some soap & water. *Please be careful not to wipe any ink onto other parts of your garment in the process.
- Dry your garment as per the garment care instructions

FAQ
Store the stamp in a cool, dry place with the lid securely on to prevent the ink from drying out. For extra measure, you can also store the ink pad inside a zip-lock bag to extend the life of the ink even further.
How many impression/prints can I get from one stamp?Depending on the amount of ink you apply when using the stamp and whether you’re storing it correctly, the ink can last for around 1,000 prints before the stamp pad will need replacing.
Is the Name Stamp washing machine & dryer safe?Our Name Stamps can be used in the washing machine and dryer. Please follow the care instructions for the clothing the Name Stamp has been applied to.
Is the Name Stamp dishwasher safe?Yes! We love using the dishwasher to clean our name stamps. We do also recommend giving the name stamp a clean with a toothbrush to avoid ink buildup.
How long does the name stamp print last on clothing?The name stamp can typically last up to 60 washes, depending on the fabric and how often the garment is washed.
Is the ink safe for my child’s skin?The ink in our name stamp is child-safe and non-toxic, designed with your little one's well-being in mind. If your child has specific skin conditions, we suggest doing a little patch test before stamping all of their things. The ink from our stamp can be easily washed off skin with warm soapy water and a cloth.
How do I keep the print of the stamped items looking vibrant?To extend the ink’s visibility on your garments, you can choose to wash fabrics in cold water and avoid high heat in the dryer. Alternatively, you can use the stamp again. *Please be mindful to check the care instructions for your garments & follow them.
Can I re-stamp clothing if the print starts to fade?Absolutely! You can re-stamp the garment as needed to keep the name visible.
I can’t fit my child’s details on the stamp?Utilising the second and third lines in the personalisation field allows for more space.
Can the stamp be removed after it’s pressed?No. Only over many many washes will your stamp fade. It will likely never disappear entirely.
Can I iron over the Ink?Once the ink is dry, it will be safe to iron over. Please remember to follow the care instructions for any clothing you’ve stamped, and only apply an iron if it is safe to do so.
